"Current challenges to income and VAT taxation in Europe"

Dear colleagues and friends,

We would like you to mark your calendar for the upcoming IFA European Region Conference 2019 “Current challenges to income and VAT taxation” to be held in Warsaw, Poland, on May 22-24, 2019.

The conference shall give the stage to distinguished and experienced speakers - academics, tax officials and practitioners - to highlight crucial issues and track future trends in international taxation. The sessions will concentrate on the newest developments in the regulatory environment resulting from BEPS and ATAD implementation as well as local attempts to prevent tax evasion in income and indirect taxation. It will also deal with the practical adoption of the MLI in bilateral double taxation treaties on selected European cases.

The Warsaw Conference has already attracted considerable interest from more than twenty European IFA branches, whose representatives take part in the Planning Committee working now on the final scientific agenda and the selection of speakers. A number of relevant authorities and organisations will be invited to join the project, including the OECD, the European Commission, the European Association of Tax Law Professors (EATLP) and representatives of tax administrations of different countries.

The Conference will be held in downtown Warsaw and will extend over two days, Thursday and Friday, May 23-24, 2019 with the welcome reception in the evening of Wednesday, May 22. The preliminary agenda assumes one plenary session deemed to deal with anti-avoidance measures being now introduced in European countries to direct and indirect taxation. The following parallel seminars covering selected topics will allow attendants to choose areas according to their specialty, such as MLI, TP, double taxation on one hand and VAT anti-fraud measures increasing business risk across Europe on the other.

We are looking forward to seeing you in Warsaw!

Kind regards,

Wojciech Sztuba, Chair of IFA Poland
Krzysztof Lasinski-Sulecki, Secretary of IFA Poland
